The first base slab that was distributed at BKC subway station | Mumbai news

The first concrete floor of the Mumbai subway station was poured on November 30, 2024, at a depth of 32 meters from the ground floor, equivalent to a 10-story building. The station was built using a bottom-up approach, which means that the excavation work has started from the ground up and the concrete work has started from the foundation.

This plaque is 3.5 meters deep, approximately 30 meters long and 20 meters wide. This is the first of the 69 slabs that will be cast in the station which will be the deepest level of construction of the railway station.

High quality steel reinforcement, 6200 rebar couplers, and 2254 cubic meters of M60 grade concrete and 4283 MT(metric tonne) of aggregate concrete are used to cast the slab.

Pouring the concrete was controlled at a temperature below 25° Celsius, using indoor ice and cold plants. Adequate waterproofing measures have been ensured before casting the slab.

The Mumbai bullet train station, located in the Bandra Kurla Complex, is the only underground station on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor.

A platform 24 meters from ground level

The platform is arranged at a depth of 24 meters from the ground level. There will be three floors including the platform, concourse, and service floor.

Excavation is done up to a depth of 32 meters from the ground level. The station will have six platforms and the length of each platform is approximately 415 meters (enough to accommodate a 16-coach train).

The station will have road and metro connectivity. Two entrances/exits are planned for the station – one for easy access to the nearest metro station and the other towards the MTNL building. The station is planned in such a way that it can accommodate the movement of passengers across the area and platform.
