Supports Cast Shine for the Oilers
Among the scoring, Mattias Janmark contributed three goals, while Stuart Skinner turned away 17 shots to help the Oilers win. On the Canucks side, Elias Pettersson managed to record a goal and an assist, while Filip Hronek and Pius Suter got a goal. However, their efforts could not stop Vancouver’s three-game winning streak.
Canucks goalie struggles
The night proved challenging for Canucks goalkeeper Kevin Lankinen, who after scoring seven goals and making 20 saves, was replaced midway through the third period. His successor, Arturs Silovs, managed to stop all four shots aimed at him. The Canucks had to face the Oilers without their star Brock Boeser, who is recovering from an upper-body injury after being hit by Los Angeles’ Tanner Jeannot on Thursday.
Former Canucks Goalkeeper’s Woes Continue
The Canucks found themselves behind early, scoring their seventh straight game, all within the first eight minutes. Despite this trend, the Canucks showed resilience, going back to winning most of these games, with a record of 4-2-1.
Oilers’ Power Play Finds Success
The Oilers power play, despite struggling recently and ranking 26th in the league at 14.3%, found success when McDavid used a holding penalty against Hronek. He was able to slide the puck into the back of the net, extending Edmonton’s lead to 5-2 in the third period.
Time to Change the Game
The exact moment came at 6:10 in the third period when former Canucks defenseman Vincent Desharnais failed to clear the puck in front of the net. Brown seized the opportunity, scoring his first goal of the game to extend the Oilers’ lead to 4-2.
McDavid’s incredible record
After this game, McDavid boasts 67 points (24 goals, 43 assists) in 41 games with the Canucks, the most for any team.
What’s Next?
The Edmonton Oilers will host the New York Islanders on Tuesday night, starting a two-game homestand, while the Canucks will host Calgary.
