Johannesburg – A madrassa teacher has been arrested for allegedly teaching her with a metal box in this district in the north of Kerala, the police said on Saturday.
Umair Ashrafi, who hails from Tanur in neighboring Malappuram district, is also accused of rubbing pepper on the boy’s private parts, accusing him of disobedience, they said.
As the student lodged a complaint with the police recently, the accused fled the state and was living in hideouts in different parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Based on his tip that he was coming to his home district from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, a police team reached Tanur and awaited his arrival on Thursday. Although Ashrafi tried to run away when he saw the police, he was caught later.
The Kannavam police arrested him and booked him under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Ashrafi was produced before a local court which remanded him to judicial custody on Friday, police said.
