India is not a ‘dharmshala’ where anyone can come and settle, says Shivraj Chouhan

Asserting that “government-sponsored entry” is a major threat to Jharkhand, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday said India is not a ‘dharmshala’ where anyone can come and live.

Delivering his speech at an election rally in Ranchi, he accused the JMM-led alliance of taking care of people entering the country, and also accused them of coming to power, marrying tribal women and “trapping them by stealth”.

“India is not a dharmshala where anyone can come and live. Immigrants are a big threat to Jharkhand. This land is ours – our land, water, forests, rivers, mountains, and fields. We will not allow anyone else to take those away from us ,” he said.

“The JMM-led alliance is taking these candidates as their vote bank. In their greed for votes, they protect them, get them registered in the voters’ list, and help them get Aadhaar and insurance cards. The situation is that the tribal population in Santhal Parganas has come down from 44 percent to 28 percent. ,” he said.

Chouhan said that if the BJP is voted to power in the state, a citizenship register will be created and the entrants will be expelled.

Addressing a BJP women’s conference in East Singhbhum district, she accused the JMM-led government of not implementing the PM Awas Yojana properly in the state.

He said that if this program had been started properly, the women would have received pucca houses.

“The BJP will build pucca houses for women who are still living in kutcha houses,” said Chouhan.

He also alleged corruption of Rs 5,000 crores in the piped water scheme Har Ghar Nal Se Jal Yojana.

“The government started giving women R1 000 a month only when the elections are near,” he said.

Chouhan said women will be given Rs 2,100 per month less if the BJP is voted to power in the state.

Voting will be held in Jharkhand on November 13 and 20. Votes will be counted on November 23.
