Disney fans Lilo & Stitch know what to expect from some little blue genetics: he’s chaotic, violent, but unteachable; by the time the 2002 animated film ends, he has learned lessons about family togetherness and the joys of Elvis’ music from Lilo, the little girl he rescues after his prison break takes him to Hawaii. With a live-action remake coming next year, it looks like the new version of Stitch will be cut from the same cloth—but somehow, a zillion times better?
Check out our latest look at the live-action Stitch—now in the world of the film itself, rather than those early promo clips—but don’t say we didn’t warn you about the cuteness!

Disney knows what it’s doing here; don’t even think that the “cute and fluffy” Stitch remake will soon be hitting store shelves, if it hasn’t already.
Stitch will be a CG creation so calling her “live action” is somewhat misleading—but there will be real people in the show, including Maia Kealoha as six-year-old Lilo; Sydney Agudong as her teenage sister and legal guardian Nani; Kaipo Dudoit as the sisters’ ski buddy David; Tia Carrere (who portrayed Nani in the animated film) as Mrs. Kekoa the kind; and Courtney B. Vance as social worker Cobra Bubbles.
As for non-humans, real Lilo & Stitch writer and director Chris Sanders (wild robot) returns to Voice Stitch; Zach Galafianakis plays the creator of Stitch’s science, Dr. Jumba Jookiba, and Billy Magnussen is Agent Pleakley, the alien chasing Stitch on Earth.
Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (shell of Marcel Wearing Shoes) and written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, Lilo & Stitch hits theaters May 23, 2025.
