Maharashtra Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Friday denied reports that he had joined the BJP-led coalition under pressure from the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He also denied reports that he is being targeted as he is the leader of the Other Backward Class (OBC). While talking to reporters in Nasik on Friday, he said he is yet to read the book of a well-known journalist who made these allegations. “I will look into it with my lawyers and I will take appropriate legal action if anything wrong is published,” he said.

The controversy started on Friday when some media outlets reported on the letter that the MEC said he agreed to.

“It was only for the benefit and progress of Maharashtra that 54 MLAs including me took this decision. We have joined the NCP-Ajit Pawar team in the development plan, and my people are very happy with the work done in my area,” he told the media.

He denied writing a book or doing an interview about this. “I’m not afraid of going to jail. I have not said anything that has been reported. I had got a clean chit in the Maharashtra Sadan case when I was a Minister in the Uddhav Thackeray government. So there is no question of being stressed about that,” he said.

He said that not all the 54 members of Parliament are facing the ED investigation, however they took this call to promote development. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also rubbished the media reports.
