Security officials recorded statements from more than 85 people over the past three days and collected videos shot down a MiG-29 fighter jet near Agra were captured by local people.
The video, along with black box data, communications with Air Traffic Control, and the pilot’s statement, will help determine whether the crash was caused by human error or technical error.
Officials of the Directorate of Flight Safety and Air Headquarters asked the Indian Air Force Wing Commander, Manish Mishra, the pilot, who ejected himself to safetyand held discussions with Air Traffic Control personnel to reveal the cause of the accident.
The senior official revealed that an Air Force officer has been appointed to analyze the black box.
The Indian Air Force’s Directorate of Flight Safety, Aircraft Accident Investigation Board and Adampur Air Force Station personnel have been investigating the incident.
Sources said a “re-creation of the scene” may be planned to better understand the sequence of events leading up to the crash. However, this will depend on the release of Wing Commander Mishra from the hospital, as such reconstructions often require the involvement of the pilot.
A MiG-29 fighter jet on Tuesday crashed near Agra during a training exercise due to a technical problem, Air Force and defense officials said.
