Zeenat Aman became the sensation of the night and heartthrob with the role of Janice in Dev Anand’s Hare Ram Hare Krishna. However, he was not so blessed when it came to his love life. Having been raised by a single mother and losing her father at the age of 13, Zeenat had no idea what a healthy marriage looked like. Zeenat Aman married Mazhar Khan in 1985 but the marriage quickly soured and she wanted out of the union. He finally came out after 12 years of marriage.
In an earlier interview with Simi Garewal, Zeenat Aman shared the reason behind leaving her second husband. He said, “What happened to Mazhar is that he stopped helping himself. Whatever he was doing, he was hurting himself badly and I couldn’t sit and watch him do that.”
He explained, “What really happened was that he became addicted to drugs, pain pills. He had been taking seven a day for a while and the doctor had said that there was a high chance that his kidneys would pack up. The children begged him, I begged him, we told him not to do it but he didn’t.”

He added, “Finally, his kidneys were full and this was after I came out. It took me a long time to do that because when I left, I still cared. I had fought many of his battles hard for him. It was very difficult for me to leave even though it was a question of defense.”
Zeenat revealed that after leaving her marriage, she was severely punished for taking action. He shared that his children turned against him and Mazhar’s sister and mother did not allow them to inherit any of her husband’s properties after his death. He said, “Every penny he had was taken by his mother and sister.” There is nothing.”
In the same interview, Zeenat also revealed that she was not allowed to pay her last respects to her husband after the death of her mother and sister. “They wanted to punish me for leaving Mazhar”, said Zeenat.
In the first year of marriage, Mazhar had a relationship with another woman. However, Zeenat, who was pregnant with their first child at the time, chose to stay in the marriage even though she knew the truth. She wanted to separate when their child turned five, but she stayed as Mazhar fell ill and it took her five years to recover. After a simple year, he died of addiction.
