Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday took a strong stand against the Congress and the National Congress, criticizing their call to restore Articles 370 and 35A.

The chief minister was addressing a function organized by All India Bhojpuri Samaj at Laxman Mela Ground here on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja.

Referring to the recent proposal in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to restore these articles, he said the Congress and its allies intend to drag the country and the region into the flames of terrorism.

“They are not willing to see the development of Jammu and Kashmir and the promising future of its youth. The nation will never accept their divisive intentions. The 140 crore people of India strongly stand for the unity and integrity of the nation and are ready to respond squarely to any threats,” he said.

‘Shall Meet the Same Fate as Article 370, 35A’

Adityanath also warned that if the Congress does not oppose the proposal, it may face the same fate as Articles 370 and 35A.

The chief minister also highlighted the importance of Chhath Puja and emphasized the need to protect the unity and integrity of the nation.

“If we are divided by caste and religion, others rule us,” said Adityanath.

“When we gathered for these celebrations, some people living in India underestimated the foundation of the country. No real Indian should have to put up with this. But when we, as 140 crores, speak with one voice, no force can challenge India,” he added.

Adityanath issued a strong message to the Congress and the National Congress, saying their actions in Kashmir show “dangerous contempt for national unity, which the country will never tolerate”.

CM Yogi Asks Congress To Drop J&K Decision

On the occasion of Chhath Puja, the chief minister asked the Congress to condemn the decision taken in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.

The party’s fate would be akin to the removal of Articles 370 and 35A in Kashmir, he warned.

Addressing a gathering in Bhojpuri, Adityanath extended warm wishes for Chhath Mahaparva to all devotees, especially acknowledging the devotion of mothers and sisters who observe a challenging fast.

He recalled that on August 5, 2019, Prime Minister Modi completely eradicated terrorism from the Kashmir Valley by abolishing Articles 370 and 35A.

“This historic decision, approved by the Parliament, removed the special status of Jammu and Kashmir from the Constitution. The world then saw a new India, powerful and peaceful but determined to defend itself,” said Adityanath.

The chief minister emphasized India’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and integrity, saying that the country is ready to make any sacrifice to protect its identity and unity.

He strongly criticized the Congress, highlighting how it introduced Article 370 in the Constitution despite Dr BR Ambedkar’s objections, thereby putting Kashmir on the path of violence and terrorism.

Adityanath recalled the ensuing unrest, with widespread violence, targeting the killing of Kashmiri Pandits and brutal attacks on anyone who expressed support for India.

“Though the Congress initially termed Article 370 as a ‘temporary provision’, only Prime Minister Modi took the bold step to scrap it. Today Kashmir is on the path of progress, with new educational institutions, hospitals, industries and a renewed sense of security that has allowed displaced citizens to return home,” he said.

The chief minister condemned the recent resolution passed by the Congress and the National Conference on the recent resolution passed by the Congress and the National Conference on Article 370 and 35A, describing it as a return to divisive and disruptive politics.

He warned the Congress that he intends to revive terrorism by undermining national unity.

Adityanath reminded that Article 370, which has now been repealed, cannot and will not again be said to be the cause of mass violence, terrorism and the killing of many innocent people.

He described it as a “bloody chapter”, which had destroyed the social harmony and beauty of Kashmir by fueling religious fanaticism and turning the region into a hotbed of terrorism.
