Joanne Trattoria owner Joe Germanotta examines how small businesses can see the impact at the federal level following the 2024 presidential election and whether politically divided families can heal.
Politics has the power to unite, but it also has the power to divide – something that Lady Gaga’s father and New York City restaurant owner allegedly felt after Donald Trump won the 2024 election.
“I came out as a Republican on ‘Fox & Friends,’ since then, you know, it was a little dicey at home,” Joe Germanotta said on “Cavuto: Coast to Coast” on Wednesday.
“But you know, [we’ll] get over it.”
Germanotta agreed with FOX Business’ David Asman that he sees himself as an “open Republican,” often aligned with more conservative public issues.

“What really needs to happen is, people need to understand that even though I’m a Republican and I have Republican attitudes, that doesn’t mean I don’t support the LGBTQ community, or drag as an art form,” he expanded.

“And that’s why we use the restaurant as a place for them to come in, drag artists,” Germanotta said, “and they perform once a week.”
The owner of Joanne Trattoria formally endorsed Trump for president in September, but recently, her Grammy Award-winning daughter publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris on the final day of the campaign.
Lady Gaga performed from the heart to Harris’ star-studded line-up, which included Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry, James Taylor and Ricky Martin.

The father-daughter duo are at odds politically, with Germanotta outspoken about the demise of New York City under Democratic leadership.
If Harris had won, “I think it would have killed a lot of businesses in New York City,” the father said when he said he plans to move to Wyoming.
“Between immigration and crime and the economy, there is a negative impact,” he said.

Trump’s win, however, sounded like a “hat trick,” and Germanotta “Yes” was happy with the end result.
“If we just start fixing the economy, and they drill, baby, drill, and the price of gasoline goes down, that producer price will go down, which means consumers will get a better deal. It’ll be able to lower prices. It’ll bring in more customers, and we’ll be back to where we were five or six years ago. “
