Here we’ll focus more on what’s new in Notes, for example. Like Mail, Maps, Messages, Safari, and other apps, Notes is getting a big upgrade to give you more features and functions to use.
Well established as one of the most versatile apps on the iPhone, of course, it’s perfect for everything from grocery lists to daily journals to private messaging. With the arrival of iOS 18, Notes are now more useful than ever.
Live Audio Transcript
Not only does Notes add a built-in way to record audio in iOS 18, so you don’t have to keep copying clips from Voice Memos, the app will also transcribe your spoken audio into digital text on the go. You then get the audioclip and the text embedded in your note.
With Note open, tap the paperclip icon at the bottom of the screen (or just above the keyboard), then select Record Audio. You will then be taken to the main recording screen: Tap the red recording button to start and stop recording. The text transcript will be saved automatically, but you can show or hide it by tapping the speech bubble icon in the bottom left.
Tap the three dots on the top right to rename your audio file, and save it elsewhere if you need it. When you are done with your recording, tap Doneand added to the note. Then, when you do a search by notes, you’ll see results from the text and general text in the notes you’ve saved.
