Another person arrested in the murder case is NCP leader Baba Siddique

A 23-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday (November 6, 2024) from Pune in connection with the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, police said.

Gaurav Vilas Apune, a resident of Karvenagar area in Pune city, is the 16th person to be arrested in this case. The court here sent him to police custody till November 9.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken him into custody as interrogation of some of the arrested suspects has shown that he is involved in the plot to attack Siddique, the former Maharashtra Chief Minister, said a police official.

He was trained to use guns by some of the suspects who were not there. He was promised a sum of money for his role in this plot, said the official.

Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead by three gunmen near the office of his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique in Mumbai’s Bandra area on October 12.

The arrested brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, Anmol Bishnoi, is suspected of being responsible for the incident, police said.
