Arturri Lehkonen, the Colorado Avalanche’s ace, returned to the ice with a win on Tuesday night, scoring the all-important tying goal on the power play. His stellar performance, combined with Nathan MacKinnon’s five assists, led the Avalanche to a dramatic 6-3 victory over the Seattle Kraken.
Avalanche Break Losing Trail With Rantanen’s Double
Mikko Rantanen scored twice for the Avalanche, helping them snap a three-game losing streak. The Avalanche’s victory was further bolstered by goals from Ivan Ivan, Nikolai Kovalenko, and Chris Wagner. Cale Makar, despite a possible injury that reduced his game time in the second half, managed to collect two assists. Both Makar and MacKinnon extended their scoring streak to 13 games this season.
Lehkonen’s Game-Changing Return
Lehkonen, back on the ice for the first time following offseason shoulder surgery, proved to be a game-changer. At 6:44 of the second period, Lehkonen broke a 2-2 tie, shooting past Kraken goaltender Philipp Grubauer off a feed from MacKinnon. Rantanen then followed with another power-play goal at 9:11, defying a challenge by Seattle coach Dan Bylsma who failed to overturn the goal even after extended replay review.
Kraken’s Struggles continues
The Kraken, despite goals from Jared McCann, Jaden Schwartz, and Brandon Montour, have gone downhill with a 3-7-1 record in their last 11 outings against the Avalanche.
Annunen’s Key Role in Avalanche’s Success
Justus Annunen, Avalanche netminder, made 17 saves, marking his presence in five of Colorado’s six wins this season.
Lehkonen’s Impact Held in Avalanche of Full Injuries
Lehkonen’s key goal in his return to the ice brought much-needed vitality to an injury-depleted Avalanche lineup. With Ross Colton, Gabriel Landeskog, Jonathan Drouin, and Valeri Nichushkin out, Lehkonen’s return has breathed life into the Avalanche’s wing.
MacKinnon and Makar’s Record-Breaking Streak
MacKinnon and Makar now share the longest career points streak in the NHL, a testament to their consistent performance.
What’s Next?
The Kraken will face Vegas on Friday night, and the Avalanche will face Winnipeg on Thursday night.
