This Steam-centric gamepad was originally released in October, but only in Japan. It boasts a large button to bring up the Steam menu and touch sensors on the joysticks for motion controls. It also ships with back mappable buttons. The gamepad connects to a computer, or Steam Deck, via Bluetooth. To do that, it ships with a USB-A Bluetooth receiver.
Hori says the Steam controller will run for about 12 hours on a full charge, though it can work while charging via a USB cable. The controller menu in Steam also allows for adjustments, such as changing the sensitivity of the sticks and gyro controls.
There are a few omissions. The controller lacks rumble functionality, and doesn’t boast a trackpad or headphone jack. If you can solve those problems, this looks like a great way to work with this ever-growing Steam collection. Hori.
As for Valve, it’s discontinued. That game pad was notable because it could be configured in many different ways.
