Craig Wright, the inventor of the “self-made” Bitcoin abandoned by Satoshi Nakamoto, is facing another legal hurdle. According to multiple reports, a UK court has filed contempt charges against Wright. The filing is based on Wright’s £911 million ($1.1 billion) claim against Block’s Square Up Europe Limited.
The case is the latest twist in the saga of Craig Wright, who has captured the imagination of the crypto community with his statement that he is “the real Satoshi Nakamoto.” The High Court of England and Wales has already blocked Wright’s arguments.
The court then issued an injunction against Wright, thus preventing him from suing the BTC developers later. Wright, however, had other ideas and sued the developers. The court responded by charging Wright with contempt of court.
Wright’s Lawsuit Violates Recent Court Order
After being dismissed by a UK court regarding his alleged identity as Satoshi, Wright clapped back and filed another lawsuit. Once again, he targeted the main developers of Bitcoin and said that this group did not represent BTC as well as the original Bitcoin. Wright argued that the true version of Bitcoin is BSV.

Block and the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) quickly responded that Wright’s latest complaint violates the order. In court today, Wright witnessed the issue of Block’s contempt petition and COPA being discussed.
Wright’s physical presence was also heavily contested, with Wright claiming to be autistic and asking to be allowed to attend the online hearing. The court responded by asking Wright to provide additional evidence about his condition.
But Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?
For years, the crypto community has been captivated by the story and mystery behind Satoshi Nakamoto. A few people have come forward claiming to be Bitcoin developers, one of them being Craig Wright. However, the High Court of England rejected Wright’s argument, adding that Wright had lied and falsified public documents.
In a statement, the presiding judge said Wright had demonstrated that he was intelligent. However, during the trial, Wright lied extensively, the judge added. Shortly after the verdict, Wright’s website now has a legal note stating that he is not the real Satoshi Nakamoto.
Legal Trouble Comes With “The Real Satoshi”
Besides Wright, several people have been identified as “real Satoshis.” There is, for example, an HBO documentary last October, which revealed Peter Todd as the real father of Bitcoin. Todd has previously denied HBO’s claim, and the documentary raises concerns about Todd’s safety.
