Courtesy of Elsa Hosk/InstagramVictoria’s Secret model Elsa Hosk recreated the worst look in the history of the royal family for Halloween – Princess Diana’s “revenge dress”.
Hosk, 35, took to Instagram on Thursday, October 31, to share a carousel of photos of herself replicating the black dress worn by Princess Diana in 1994.
“Have an ICONIC Halloween🖤” Hosk captioned the post.
The model also posted an Instagram Reel, where she showed off the dress, complete with a necklace similar to that of the late princess.
“The princess of the people 👑” he wrote on Instagram.
Diana’s original “vengeance dress” was a Christina Stambolian design, featuring a low-cut, off-the-shoulder bodice and a short hemline.
The dress was a risky choice compared to anyone in the royal circle, and traditionally the family opted for more fashion.
Diana’s decision to wear this dress – and the reason the public called it “the dress of revenge” – was its first moment. Diana stepped out in the dress for a gala at the Serpentine Gallery on June 29, 1994 – that night. Prince Charles he admitted on television that he had been unfaithful to Diana and his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles.
“It’s a very sad thing to happen, but it happens, and unfortunately, in this case, it did,” Charles said in the ITV documentary, Charles: Private Man, Public Role, who played a year and a half after the couple broke up.

A year later, Diana also opened up about the former couple’s marital problems in a controversial interview on the BBC Panorama.
“Do you think Mrs. Parker Bowles contributed to the breakdown of your marriage?” a reporter Martin Bashir asked Diana.
He responded with the infamous line, “Well, there were three of us at this wedding, so it was a little crowded.”
Diana and Charles officially divorced in August 1996 after 15 years of marriage. The Princess died aged 36 in August 1997. The King and Camilla married in April 2005.
Meanwhile, the “revenge dress” could look very different from the one it became widely known for.
Claudia Josephthe author of Diana: A Life in Dresses, which explores the fashion evolution of the late princess, is told Us Weekly in February 2023 that the late princess almost wore something else.
“The story about her wearing the ‘Revenge Dress’ is very interesting,” Joseph tells us. “He used to enter Christina Stambolian’s clothing store with his brother Charlie Spencer, he sat there trying on clothes.
The author explained that Diana had ordered a memorable off-the-shoulder dress but at first she “wanted it white.” Joseph continued: “But Christina said, ‘No, no, I think it would look better in black.'”
Diana, however, was not convinced. “It’s been [groaning] so, but Christina persisted and said, ‘This seems like a miracle to you,'” Joseph said Us.
He finally obliged and ordered a black piece. On the day of the Serpentine Gallery event, the British press leaked that Diana would wear Valentino, which did not sit well with her.
“He got very angry about that, then he went into his closet and his waiter told him to get dressed [Stambolian]and of course it was named ‘The Dress of Vengeance,” said Joseph.
