Once again, the Los Angeles Dodgers are the World Series champions.

The Dodgers took down the New York Yankees in Game 5 on Wednesday night, winning 7-6 en route to a 4-1 series victory. The win capped a legendary season for the Dodgers, who had one of the most memorable seasons in MLB history last winter when they added Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow and Teoscar Hernández.

As Los Angeles prepares for a parade to celebrate the city’s latest championship, let’s take a look at the numbers in an attempt to put the 2024 Fall Classic into perspective.

309: The Yankees, on the other hand, had $309.4 million in cap space for the 2024 season. That’s the most earned run in a World Series loss. Their projected salary for 2025 is currently $239.4 million, per Spotrac. Juan Soto and Gleyber Torres are their most notable free agents, and Gerrit Cole has an option.

8: The Dodgers’ record-setting offseason spending has made them the betting favorite to win the World Series. It’s the first time since the Chicago Cubs’ World Series win in 2016 that the betting favorite entering the season has won the World Series and the fourth time since 2000 that the betting favorite entering the season has won it all, according to SportsOddHistory.com.
