Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar in Delhi on November 2, 2024, as part of his upcoming visit to India, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Mr. Sangiampongsa is expected to arrive in Delhi late on Thursday (October 31, 2024) night and leave on November 3, according to his schedule shared with the MEA advisory.
On November 1, the Thai Minister will hold talks in the national capital, and on November 2, he will meet Foreign Minister Jaishankar at South Block.
Mr. Sangiampongsa visited New Delhi from 11-13 July for the second BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers’ Forum hosted by the Indian Foreign Minister and his first official visit to India.
On July 12, Mr. Jaishankar had a bilateral meeting with Mr. I congratulated him and he hosted lunch in his honor. During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed progress in various areas of partnership, including political exchanges, defense and security relations, trade and investment opportunities, communication, scientific and technological cooperation, health cooperation, culture and people-to-people contacts.
The two Ministers also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and reiterated their commitment to close cooperation in regional, regional and international forums, the MEA had said earlier.
In accordance with the view of the Prime Ministers of the two countries, the Ministers reaffirmed the mutual desire for strong India-Thailand cooperation, the statement said.
Thailand is an important partner of India in ASEAN. India’s ‘Act East’ policy which is marking its 10th year in 2024, is finding convergence with Thailand’s ‘Act West’ policy.
“The interaction between the Indian Foreign Minister and the Thai Foreign Minister has contributed to the strengthening of bilateral relations,” the MEA said.
