Report: Jets sign two kickers to practice ahead of ‘TNF’

East Rutherford, NJ — October 14, 2024 — After missing two field goals in the second half, Jets’ Greg Zuerlein leaves the field at the end of the game. The Buffalo Bills came to MetLife Stadium to play the NY Jets. The Jets played their first game under new interim coach Jeff Ulbrich.

The New York Jets signed Riley Patterson and Spencer Shrader to the practice squad with the goal of one of those kickers playing Thursday against the visiting Houston Texans, NFL Network reports.

Both players worked out Tuesday for the Jets (2-6), whose kicker, Greg Zuerlein, is nursing a sore left knee.

Zuerlein, 36, has made just 9 of 15 field goal attempts — a long of 40 yards — and 13 of 14 field goal attempts this season.

Patterson, 25, has made 59 of 67 field goal attempts and 93 of 97 PATs in 39 career games with the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns since entering the league in 2024.

An undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame, Shrader, 25, made all three of his punt attempts in one game for the Indianapolis Colts this season.
