BJP leader and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya completed the grueling Ironman 70.3 race held in Goa on Sunday. He is the first Indian community representative to complete the Ironman event.
Calling it a “laudable gesture”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Surya’s effort.
The 33-year-old BJP MP took on the grueling challenge of a triathlon—which included a 1,900-meter swim, a 90-kilometer cycle, and a 21.1-kilometer run—finishing in 8 hours, 27 minutes and seconds. 32.
Surya dedicated this achievement to the athletes and sportspersons of India, appreciating their hard work and dedication. “Ironman 70.3 Goa, known for attracting athletes from over 50 countries, is the ultimate test of endurance and stamina,” he said after the race.
“After months of hard training, I am very happy to finish this challenge,” he added.
Surya hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India initiative as an inspiration. “The Fit India organization inspired me to reflect on my fitness goals and strive for a better health,” he said.
He also urged the youth of India to prioritize resilience. “Physical fitness makes us resilient and confident, qualities that are important to succeed in any endeavor,” he said.
Encouraging others to embrace fitness, Surya said, “This journey has crossed my limits. I urge everyone, especially young people, to set fitness goals and enjoy the positive changes they bring.”
