Punjab police on Sunday said they have busted a cross-border smuggling operation, seizing 105 kilograms of heroin in an intelligence-led operation.
During the operation, the authorities arrested Navjot Singh and Lovepreet Kumar, two people linked to the drug smuggler of foreign origin.
According to the police, smugglers were transporting drugs from Pakistan using waterways. The police found large rubber tubes, suggesting that the goods had been smuggled in the water. Apart from the heroin, the police also found five foreign-made guns and one locally-made gun.
Calling these operations “big heroin in Punjab,” the state’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, wearing his official X handle, said, “In an intelligence-led operation, the Punjab Police busted a cross-border smuggling racket and arrested two associates of an international drug smuggler.” Navpreet Singh @Nav Bhullar and recovered 105 Kg Heroin, 31.93 Kg Caffeine Anhydrous, 17 Kg DMR, 5 foreign made guns and 1 desi katta.”
The police have filed an FIR, and investigations are underway to establish links that may lead to more arrests in the company, according to DGP Yadav.
