Six people have been arrested after their plot to grab 12.09 hectares of land worth Rs 600 crore in Hyderabad’s Raidurgam came to light.
The Cyberabad Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) on Friday (October 25, 2024) arrested Senior Assistant and Executive Registrar, Rangareddy J. Guru Sai Raj and Mohd Abdul Razzak, Naveen Kumar Goyal, Mohd Abdul Adil, Syeda Kouser and Afsha Sara following a complaint by Kukala Venka Reddy, Deputy Collector cum Tashildar of Serlingampally mandal.
According to the police, the group conspired with a government official and created illegal land development documents and agreements for the construction of a large residential building with built areas of 19 square meters on 39 floors.
Authorities traced the scam to a forged 1978 document allegedly used to execute a fake development agreement between Faizulla’s heirs (including Abdul Razzak, Abdul Adil, Syeda Kouser and Afsha Sara) and Geek Builders LLP, owned by Naveen for approval claims on this government land.
On October 11, the group allegedly collaborated with the Sub-Registrar in charge and entered into a “Power of Attorney Development Agreement” (DGPA) which covered government areas under survey numbers 1, 4, 5, and 20 of the village of Raidurg Paigha.
“Telangana Leather Industries Promotion Corporation Limited (TSLIPCO), the real owner, has been running this government for decades. “Despite the state of land prohibition, the document was registered in Rangareddy district, suggesting collusion between private developers and officials and raising serious concerns about fraud and conspiracy,” Cyberabad Commissioner Avinash Mohanty said in a statement.
TSLIPCO has recently entered into a lease agreement with Telangana State Trade Promotion Corporation Limited (TSTPC) to construct Unity Mall on 5.16 acres in survey numbers 1, 3, 4, 5, 17, 19, and 49. The Government of India has allocated R202. crores for this project and TSTPC awarded the earth excavation contract to M/s ONC Constructions Pvt. Ltd., with drilling operations beginning on April 4, 2024.
