James Franco thinks 20-year friendship with Seth Rogen is ‘over’

James Franco again Seth Rogen‘s friendship is not the same as before.

“I haven’t talked to Seth yet,” said Franco, 46 Variety in an interview published on Friday, October 25. “I love Seth, we had 20 wonderful years together, but I think it’s over. And not for lack of trying. I have already told him what he is talking about to me.”

Rogen, 42, and Franco first met at a 1999 youth drama Freaks and Geeks before finding success together on the big screen with films like Pineapple Express, This is the End again The Tragedy Artist.

In 2018, however, Franco was accused of sexual misconduct by five women, four of whom were his trainees. Two of the former students filed charges of sexual misconduct in 2019. Franco settled the case in 2021.

“Although the defendants continue to deny the allegations of the Complaint, they agree that the plaintiffs have presented important facts,” both parties said in a statement. The Hollywood Reporter at the time, “and all groups strongly believe that now is a critical time to focus on addressing the mistreatment of women in Hollywood.”

Although Rogen previously said he would continue to work with Franco, he expressed a different opinion in recent interviews.

“We’re not working together right now and we don’t have any apps together,” Franco said on SiriusXM. The Jess Cagle Show. “Yes, it was painful, in terms of the situation, but I get it. He had to answer me because I was silent. He had to answer for me, I don’t want that.”

“I love Seth Rogen. I worked with him for 20 years,” he continued. “We haven’t had a single war in 20 years. There is no single fight. He was my closest work friend, collaborator. We just have enough.”

Moving on, Franco is grateful for the opportunity to star again in his new movie Hi Joe. In the drama, Franco plays an alcoholic WWII American vet who arrives in Naples in the early 1970s in search of the son he gave birth to there.

“I had to change my whole lifestyle,” he said Variety. “So I’m proud of the kind of work I did at that time. And yes, I wasn’t working in movies, but I was doing a lot of work to change who I was. “
