21 houses were set on fire in Bihar’s Nawada district on Wednesday night, police said.

The initial investigation revealed that a land dispute may have been the cause of the incident that took place at Manjhi Tola in the Mufassil police station area.

No one was injured in the incident, they added.

Ten people have been arrested, and the search is on to catch other suspects, said the police.

“A call came in around 7.30 at night saying that some houses in Manjhi Tola have been set on fire. The police quickly arrived at the scene along with the fire brigade. It took time to put out the fire. According to the residents, a group of people started burning the houses around 19:00,” said SP Abhinav Dhiman who also visited the area.

“The initial investigation reveals that the world conflict is the cause of this incident. A case has been registered and the investigation is ongoing,” he said.

Another police officer said that shots were fired in the air while houses were being set on fire.

Dhiman said that the situation is under control and a number of police officers have been deployed to the area to prevent the outbreak of fire.
