This may be the last stake in Marvel’s heart Blade. Previously scheduled for release on November 7, 2025, Mahershala Ali’s vampire film has been pulled from Disney’s release schedule. In its place there is Predator: Badlandsspiritual tracking to A deer from director Dan Trachtenberg.
In addition, Marvel released three new movies for 2028: February 18, 2028; May 5, 2028;, and November 10, 2028.
So let’s take these one by one. Almost everyone felt that Blade it wasn’t making its 2025 release date. Marvel already has three movies coming out in 2025 (Captain America: Brave New World, Thunder, Fantastic Four: First Steps) are all well into production. Bladeas you may recall, it lost its latest director Yann Demange in June, which was not the first time it had happened. Getting kicked out of the kick-off process is never a good thing but it is not, in fact, the kiss of death. Sony did the same with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and obviously that is happening. It just means that more time is needed. io9 reached out to Marvel and a source there confirmed what Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has been saying for some time now. Marvel wants to do Bladebut it doesn’t want to do it just for the sake of doing it. It has to be right and it doesn’t want to rush to hit the release date.
Topping that release date is Predator: Badlands, a new sequel titled Prey from director Dan Trachtenberg and Elle Fanning. Earlier, we were already calling it Badlands but now that it’s getting an official theatrical release, we’re guessing Disney added the franchise name in there just to be safe. The film was shot in New Zealand and, although it is not a direct sequel to Prey, it is expected to be in the same atmosphere.
