McDonald’s clarifies neutrality after hosting Trump event in Pennsylvania | World News

McDonald’s has confirmed its neutrality in the upcoming presidential election after hosting former president Donald Trump at a restaurant in Pennsylvania over the weekend. The event, which took place in the suburbs of Philadelphia, saw Trump takes over the frying pan and interacting with customers through the drive-thru window. Although the restaurant was closed to the public, it attracted a lot of attention.

In a message to employees received by The Associated PressMcDonald’s clarified that the event was not an endorsement of any political candidate. Derek Giacomantonio, who owns the restaurant, reached out to the companies after hearing about Trump’s interest in visiting the Pennsylvania restaurant. The company agreed to accept the request, citing one of its main principles: “We open our doors to everyone.”

“McDonald’s does not endorse candidates for office, and that remains true in this race for the next president.” We are not red or blue – we are gold,” the company said in its employee message.

McDonald’s also noted that shareholders have extended invitations to other prominent political figures, including Vice President Kamala Harris and her colleague, Gov. Tim Walz. The Harris campaign has yet to respond to the invitation.

The company agreed to be a talking point this election cycle, especially since Harris mentioned his time working at McDonald’s during his college years. McDonald’s expressed pride in Harris’ memories but dismissed Trump’s baseless allegations that Harris was lying about what happened to him.

Festive offer

Despite the backlash on social media, and calls to boycott the series, public relations experts believe the event is unlikely to damage McDonald’s long-term. Instead, many see the company benefiting from publicizing the event.
