Jayden Daniels leaves the Commanders vs. Panthers injured rib

Jayden Daniels left the Washington Commanders game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday with what the team called a rib injury.

The rookie quarterback is doubtful to return.

Daniels, who ran 46 yards on the Commanders’ first offensive play, scored a touchdown after a third-down pass on first down. It was not immediately clear when he was injured.

He first went to the bench but moved to the green medical tent to be evaluated. After leaving the tent and returning to the field, Daniels hit his helmet and returned to the tent.

He then left the side and went down the corridor to the locker room. Marcus Mariota replaced him.

The No. 2 pick at LSU and the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner entered as the favorite to win offensive lineman of the year honors.

It is reported by the Associated Press.
