Underscoring the importance of the recently announced Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy-2024 (ICEP), Special Principal Secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand emphasized the need for cooperative efforts of the State’s power resources for effective utilization.
In a teleconference on ICEP with AP-Genco MD and NREDCAP Vice Chairman KVN Chakradhar Babu, AP-Transco Joint MD Kirthi Chekuri, CMDs of Discoms P. Ravi Subhash, I. Prudhvi Tej and K. Santosha Rao, and AP Solar Power Corporation MD M. Kamalakar Babu on Sunday, Mr. Vijayanand said the policy provides a strong regulatory framework to attract investment in the clean energy sector and create a platform for much-needed job generation.
ICEP was intended to harness the power of Renewable Energy (RE) in the State by promoting clean energy solutions, thereby advancing progress towards achieving zero emissions at the State and national level and increasing energy costs.
Power generation targets
The policy targets the generation of 78.50 GW of solar power and 35 GW of wind power, installing a pumped storage capacity of 22 GW and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of 25 Gigawatt Hour, producing 1.50 MMTPA of green hydrogen and output otherwise, 1,500 kl per day. of ethanol and 1,000 tons per day of bio-Compressed Biogas.
In addition, Mr. Vijayanand said incentives such as lease of land at reasonable rates, waiver of stamp duty on acquired lands, financing of green hydrogen production plants and equipment, restoration of Net State GST for BES, power subsidy of ₹ R1 per unit. biofuels are provided.
