Seahawks’ Offensive Line Struggles

The Seattle Seahawks are dealing with injury issues on their offensive line, leading to them upgrading their fourth-round pick. According to coach Mike Macdonald, rookie Mike Jerrell will play his first game on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

In addition to this, the Seahawks will be missing two key backs, Pro Bowler Riq Woolen and Tre Brown, who have been declared unfit to play. The right tackle position has been a revolving door for the Seahawks, with Stone Forsythe, who has been filling in for George Fant, now out with a hand injury. Fant, who started the season in place of Abe Lucas, is on the disabled list with a knee injury. Lucas is still on the disabled list.

A Promising Debut for Mike Jerrell

Mike Jerrell, a sixth-round pick out of Division II Findlay, has been on hold through the first five games of the season and is yet to make his first offensive game. Coach Macdonald praised Jerrell’s preparation, saying, “He’s been improving since he got here. His progress in less than a year is amazing, and we are proud of him. He’s got a great opportunity, and we’re excited to see him do his thing.”

Despite having Jason Peters, 42, in their training squad, Coach Macdonald has confirmed that the 21-year veteran will not be promoted this week.

Cornerback challenges and defensive adjustments

Seattle’s backfield woes continue as Woolen missed last week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers with an ankle injury, while Brown also suffered an ankle injury in the same game. The Seahawks opted to promote Faion Hicks and Josh Jobe to the practice squad in response. Devon Witherspoon will be included in Seattle’s nickelback plans, but coach Macdonald remained tight-lipped on whether Hicks or Jobe will also fill that role.

I’m looking forward

The team hopes to have Woolen and Brown back next week. Forsythe, who underwent hand surgery this week, is also expected to return soon. In more good news, safety Rayshawn Jenkins, who was placed on injured reserve with a hand injury, has recovered from surgery and is expected to return this season.

The Seahawks, currently on a three-game winning streak after a perfect 3-0 start to the season, are under 3.0 points according to sportsbooks. Despite the challenges, the Seahawks are determined to bounce back and regain their winning streak.
