Hasbro’s HasLab Unveils The Massive Ghostbusters Ecto-1

Hasbro’s amazing HasLab system just announced another release and this time our first thought is “That’s a big Twinkie.” The toy company has returned to the world of The Ghostbusters and in this life is arguably the most iconic piece in the franchise, the Ecto-1.

Oh, sure there have been Ecto-1s before. All types. But never in Habro’s sixth-scale “Plasma Series” like this. It measures approximately 24 inches long, 10 inches high, and eight inches wide. It’s a beast and, as with all HasLabs, this one is filled with all kinds of cool details, extras, and more. “HasLab Lab worked directly with our Ghost Corps partners to create a 6-inch scale Ectomobile that is as realistic and movie-accurate as possible,” the site writes. “Our design team was even able to visit and photograph a real Ecto, and boy did they get all into the business of that car, as shown by the insane amount of detail that went into this six-scale model.”

Two versions are available—i The Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ectomobile (Anniversary Edition) [Base Model] for $325 again The Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ectomobile (Anniversary Edition) [Deluxe Model] for $400. I mean, yes it’s expensive, but look at this baby and tell us it’s not worth it. These are just a few pictures.

For the money though, it’s almost silly not to order the deluxe. For an extra $75 you get—minimum—four brand new ones The Ghostbusters figures that can fit inside the Ecto-1. Each of those costs $20-$25 each. Plus, you get a bunch of cool little things that let you turn them into a brighter, louder version from the get-go Ghostbusters II. But, if you don’t want to spend that much money, they both come with a cool Librarian figure and a Slimer figure and, if the project gets fully funded in two weeks, a Louis Tully figure. Which is, come on… that only costs $400.

But, yeah, this is HasLab so it’s big, expensive, and unproven. It is only done if 12,000 people return it in 45 days. But, with 3,000 people backing it as of this writing, and it’s only been a few hours, we can imagine it will reach that goal soon.
