India Canada List of lawyers in India: Demand for extradition of gang members Lawrence Bishnoi, Canada did not respond, says India

India has been seeking the extradition of gang member Lawrence Bishnoi from Canada for the past few years, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday.

During a press conference, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said similar extradition requests linked to the Bishnoi gang have been made recently, but Canada has not yet responded.

The MEA has given the names of Gurjit Singh, Gurjinder Singh, Arshdeep Singh Gill, Lakhbir Singh Landa, Gurpreet Singh for extradition, saying Bishnoi gang members are among them.

“We informed Canada about the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and its gangs and requested their temporary arrest and repatriation some years ago, and recently. However, there is no response from Canada so far”, he said.

The Ministry of External Affairs also said that Canada always raises ‘freedom of expression’ as their argument whenever India seeks action against India and separatist groups.

The government’s statement came a day after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau named Lawrence Bishnoi, who was allegedly involved in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in September last year.

Trudeau alleges that Indian politicians were collecting information on Canadians and passing it on to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Trudeau, who testified before the inquiry into foreign interference, said Canadian organizations tried to work after the incident with India before he went public with the allegations of Nijjar’s murder.

This is a developing story. It will be updated.
