Three couples arrested for abducting a baby | Delhi News

A married couple among three people have been arrested for allegedly abducting a two-month-old girl from New Delhi’s Gole Market on Sunday and trying to sell her to Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said on Monday.

DCP (New Delhi) Devesh Mahla said, “The police, with the help of CCTV footage, identified a woman who was walking with a small child at the scene of the incident. Later the woman was joined by a man and both of them reached Shivaji railway station.”

“Through a combination of vigilance and local intelligence, a male suspect, identified as Rudhir, who is deaf and dumb, was nabbed near Shivaji railway station. Based on her information, the police raided the slums near Ghaziabad railway station and arrested a woman identified as Anita Devi alias Neetu,” the DCP said.

During the raid, two children, five and two years old, were found with Anita, said the police officer.

The woman confessed and told the police that she gave the baby to her husband Deepak Satsangi who was on his way to Tundla in Uttar Pradesh to sell the girl, the DCP added.

Festive offer

A police team arrested Satsangi, who is also unable to speak and hear, from Tundla Railway Station when he tried to escape and rescue the girl.

“Anita Devi has not provided satisfactory information about the parents of the two children found in her house. Efforts are being made to find their families,” said the DCP. Police added that two other children, a five-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl, were also found at Deepak’s place and their families are still being traced.
