Concrete specials and the desire to enlighten Portugal

Bruno Fernandes problem for Man Utd

Manchester United fans have issued a collective break this summer as their midfielder Bruno Fernandes revealed that he had “concrete supply” to leave the club, but in the end he decided to stay.

The Portuguese, who has been in charge at Old Trafford since joining in 2020, opened up about his future plans, admitting that he may leave the Theater of Dreams.

“I was contacted [by other clubs]the club knew I might leave, I had a concrete promise,” Fernandes told ESPN. However, he went on to explain that United have made it clear they need him at a time of “change” and want to do “things differently”.

The 30-year-old’s comments come at a difficult time for the Red Devils, who have endured a sloppy start to the Premier League season and are 14th. The pressure was mounting on the manager Erik ten Hagleaving many to wonder if Fernandes could be the latest high-profile outing.

But while the midfielder admitted it was “not a good time” at Old Trafford, he revealed he is thoroughly enjoying his time with the Portugal national team. “The dynamics are very good. I am in my country, I speak my language, I have better food,” he said. “I showed good quality in the national team.”

Fernandes also used the opportunity to praise the Sporting manager Ruben Amorimsuggesting the Portuguese manager is “ready for a job in the Premier League” – a subtle nod to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Ten Hag’s future.

With United struggling and Fernandes looking more than content in a Portugal shirt, the club’s fans will be hoping their talented midfielder can regain his form and lead them to destruction. But the desire to leave seems to be still lingering in his mind.
