CBS (2)Jeff Probst ready to put John Lovett of A survivor discussing the hall of fame.
“Jon Lovett is one of the greatest storytellers we will ever have A survivor,” said Probst in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published on Tuesday, September 17. “He is there Mike White. The guy who wrote it [Barack] Obama. He is an amazing thinker and a pleasure to talk to.”
Before joining A survivor and co-founding Crooked Media, Lovett, 42, served as a speechwriter during the Obama administration and worked with presidential candidates. John Kerry again Hillary Clinton. In Probst’s view, Lovett’s ability to speak has been a blessing, especially during the confessional.
“In a show like that A survivorwhen you rely on players to be storytellers, having someone like Lovett is just a great gift for us,” he thought. “Because no matter what the situation is or how you ask the question, he will give you an effective answer. That was the funnest part of Lovett.”
Probst teased that Lovett’s experience and love of Survivor also made his words even more meaningful — especially for viewers at home.
“If you add to that the fact that you are a big fan and you have studied this game in different ways, including politics, that means you have been in the political world for a long time,” explained Probst. “He can look at the politics of A survivor in a new way and explain to the audience in a new way.”
When the Survivor 47 The trailer first dropped in May, and fans and listeners of “Pod Save America” were surprised to see Lovett as one of the cast members. While many see the “Lovett or Leave” podcast host at home, Probst admitted that the recognition could either hurt or help Lovett.
“I think the big question for Jon will be: Do people know him by his face or by his name?” Probst said. “And how will you deal with him if someone understands that he is a celebrity himself and it is obvious that he is a smart guy? That would be a big obstacle for him to get out from under early. It may also be part of the toolkit that gets him deeper into the game. That will be up to Lovett.”
Besides Lovett, there are 17 other players vying for the title of Sole Survivor and the $1 million prize.
Survivor 47 premieres Wednesday, September 18, on CBS at 8 pm ET. Also available for streaming on Paramount+.
