Delhi’s Patiala House court has extended the interim bail of engineer Rashid, Member of Parliament from Baramulla, till October 15 in the Jammu and Kashmir terror financing case.
Earlier, Rashid was granted interim bail till October 2, which was extended by 10 days on October 1. Now, the court has extended the bail by another three days, pushing his surrender date to October 15 instead of October 13, according to his lawyer. . confirmed.
Rashid had earlier filed an application in the Patiala House Court, seeking three months’ interim bail to participate in the Jammu and Kashmir election campaign.
During the trial, Rashid’s lawyer requested that, if the court cannot grant bail for three months, it should at least grant interim bail until October 10 during the election. However, the court initially granted bail till October 2, later it was extended by 10 days and now by another three.
Engineer Rashid, who was lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with a terror financing case in 2017, was recently released on interim bail. His party contested the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and failed to make a mark in the polls.
