The flight carrying 141 people was disrupted after take off and circled around Trichy for about two and a half hours before landing safely at the Trichy airport.
Aviation regulator DGCA will conduct a thorough investigation of the Air India Express flight that was affected by water during its flight from Trichy to Sharjah on Friday to find out the cause of the problem.
The plane carrying 141 people appeared to malfunction after take off and circled around Trichy for about two and a half hours before landing safely at the Trichy airport.
In a statement, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said the airport and emergency teams responded quickly and effectively after the emergency was declared at 1805 hours.
The flight landed in 2015 hours.
“The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been ordered to thoroughly examine the aircraft to determine the real cause of the hydraulic problem.
“In the meantime, Air India Express has been advised to provide all necessary assistance to the passengers, including other arrangements for their onward journey,” Naidu said.
The minister also said that the staff follow all safety rules, ensuring the well-being of every passenger during an emergency.
“Following the hydraulic failure reported by Air India Express flight AXB 613 operating from Trichy to Sharjah with 141 people on board, we are relieved that the flight landed safely at Trichy airport,” he added.
