Seven people, including three women, died in Haryana’s Kaithal on Saturday when the car they were traveling in fell into a canal, police said.
They said nine people, including eight members of one family, were in the car. They were heading towards the Baba Rajpuri Mela organized on Dussehra.
According to the police, the accident occurred when the driver lost control and plunged into a canal near Mundri village. When the driver was rescued, seven people inside the car died.
The police said that the child has not been found and efforts to search for him are still ongoing. All the residents were from Deeg village in Kaithal.
