The start of a new year brings new design trends, including exciting paint colors for 2025. While you don’t need to remodel your entire home, getting a fresh coat of paint is an easy and affordable way to give your space a new look. Paint has a powerful effect on any room, making it the perfect way to bring a new vibe to your home in the coming year.
We turned to the paint colors and trends designers say will dominate the coming year, and we’re pretty excited about these predictions. Why not be bold and stand out at home—or try a warm neutral if you’re always looking for color? Whatever your aesthetic, you can spice up your space by trying any of the trending looks below.

Color Removal
Going all one color on walls, trim, and ceilings—otherwise known as color immersion—will continue to be big next year, according to many designers.
“The paint can be the same sheen, or, my personal favorite way of doing it, different sheens in three different areas,” explains Suzan Wemlinger, founder of Suzan J Designs. “Take it a step further and add color to the room using lacquer—now that’s a statement room!”
Chartreuse songs
Say hello to the blooming greenery of 2025. Amy Youngblood, founder of Amy Youngblood Interiors, is all about being bold with chartreuse. “Chartreuse is a unique combination of yellow and green that is energizing but not too bright,” he says. “I think it adds a fun backdrop and warm vibe to the room, especially when paired with neutral furniture.”

Painted Trim
In a related post, Kerri Pilchik, founder of Kerri Pilchik Design, agrees that cutting paint in the same or similar color to the walls will be a popular trend. “The white trim now looks almost unfinished in the room,” he says, noting that drawing the line on a different surface than the walls—like a light fixture—is a smart move.
Kelley Gable, founder of Gable Interiors, also believes that contrast and accent trim will dominate. “Gone are the days of the voice wall and in its place is voice acting,” he said.
Two tone cabinet
Mix things up a bit in your kitchen with a new cabinetry style. “We’re going to see an explosion of two-tone painted cabinets,” notes Melissa Oholendt, founder of Oho Interiors. You are talking about situations where the sides of the cabinet are painted one color and the inside is a different color, or one color is used on the door of the cabinet or on the front of the cabinet and it blends into another color. “We’ve seen this done in furniture for years now but it’s starting to make built-in pieces and I couldn’t love it more,” said the designer.

Purple Good
People won’t be avoiding purple next year, either, shares Sallie Lord, founder of GreyHunt Interiors. He says: “What’s purple comes hot.” “Combined with colors like chartreuse, green, yellow, and more, it’s off to a strong start this coming year.”
Wemlinger foresees more use of eggplant, plum, purple, and mauve next year. “It’s not for everyone, but if it’s the right room call, it can have a big impact,” he said. “I think consumers are ready for color but they don’t really want bright or bold colors; they still want to be able to come home to their sanctuary and rest.”
More Light Green
Green, in many different forms but especially in lighter shades, will make waves next year, King said. “Mint greens and green teas come on strong.” Embrace a classic coastal-inspired look no matter where you live by weaving one of these shades into your home.
