LocalCircles poll: 55% said they would not burn fireworks as they cause air pollution

With the national capital grappling with air pollution, 18% households in Delhi-NCR are likely to light firecrackers this Diwali, according to a survey by LocalCircles.

The survey asked residents of Delhi NCR: “What do you plan to do this Diwali in terms of fireworks?”

Of the 10,526 who answered this question, 55% said “they will not burn fireworks as they cause pollution”. A total of 19% say that although they “like to burn crackers but they are not available in my town”. Another 9% said “they will burn crackers and have already got them in NCR towns”; 9% said “they will burn crackers if they know how to get them” while 8% did not give a clear answer. To summarize, 18% households of Delhi NCR surveyed are likely to burn crackers this Diwali.

The survey received over 10,000 responses from residents of Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. 68% of respondents were male, while 32% were female.

The survey was conducted through the LocalCircles platform, and all participants were verified citizens who were required to be registered with LocalCircles to participate in the survey.
